Installing
- Open DiskLens.dmg and drag DiskLens into Applications.
- Open DiskLens. The first time, macOS says it can't verify the app, because DiskLens isn't notarized by Apple yet. Click Done.
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to DiskLens. You only need to do this once.
Prefer Terminal? Run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DiskLens.app instead of step 3.
To see every folder's real size, add DiskLens under Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, then scan again.
Understand "System Data"
DiskLens scans 40+ known locations (caches, logs, developer tools, app leftovers, installers, backups) and explains each one in plain language.
Never deletes anything
DiskLens shows you what's there and gives you the Finder location or command to clear it yourself. You stay in control.
Finds leftovers
Spots data from apps you've uninstalled, and old .dmg and .pkg installers for apps you already have.
Watches free space
A menu-bar monitor shows free space and notifies you when it drops below a threshold you choose. A history chart marks each cleanup.
Private and open source
Scan history and settings stay on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/DiskLens/. Nothing is sent anywhere. DiskLens is licensed under Apache 2.0, and every release is built from the public source by GitHub Actions.
